At least someone was killed and 7 wounded when a Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside a hotel belonging to US President-elect Donald Trump in Las Vegas, cops said Wednesday. The electric vehicle brought up to the Trump International Hotels glass entryway before a large surge, Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill informed reporters.Video footage shows the stainless-steel truck parked at the hotel entrance before bursting into flames, followed by smaller sized explosions that appeared similar to fireworks.McMahill said there was one departed specific inside the Cybertruck while 7 people received small injuries.
He stated the hotel had actually been evacuated.US President Joe Biden said authorities were examining any possible link in between the blast and an attack previously Wednesday in New Orleans, in which a truck rammed a crowd, killing at least 15 individuals and wounding dozens. Thus far, theres absolutely nothing to report on that rating, Biden said.FBI representative Jeremy Schwartz described the Las Vegas blast as a separated event, adding: We do not believe that theres a lot of folks out there supporting this or assisting this.Tesla chief Elon Musk said that the surge was triggered by large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck, including a post on X that it was unrelated to the vehicle itself.Earlier, he said the whole Tesla senior group was examining the blast, including: Weve never ever seen anything like this.Police stated they are still working to establish the reason for the surge.
US media consisting of NBC and CBS reported that authorities were investigating it as a prospective terror attack, citing unnamed sources. There had been indications that the suspect in the New Orleans attack had actually been motivated by the Islamic State group, Biden said.McMahill stated that up until now they had no indication that the blast in Las Vegas had any similar links to the Islamic State group. However, he included, Its a Tesla truck, and we know Elon Musk is working with President-elect Trump, and its the Trump tower.
So theres clearly things to be worried about there and thats something we continue to look at.Musk, who backed Trump in the November election and was called by the Republican to head up a commission to cut federal government costs, said he would publish more information as quickly as we discover anything.Source: AFP-- Agencies
